Au lieu de favoriser l’information sur la question complexe des mouvements migratoires, notre époque excessivement médiatisée alimente peurs, amalgames et confusion sur lesquelles surfent allègrement les populismes de toutes sortes. S’appuyant sur leurs expériences respectives auprès du Haut Commissariat pour les Réfugiés (HCR), d’Elisa-asile et de la CIMADE, Marie-José Bofill et Jean-Marc Gaillard se proposent d’apporter une vision plus contrastée et humaine sur les réalités « du terrain », à savoir la diversité des parcours et des motivations des migrants, les familles éclatées, la difficulté d’accéder à une autorisation de séjour, les « accords Dublin », les renvois vers les pays d’origine. Des données chiffrées 2016 et une rétrospective historique sur le concept de « réfugié » compléteront la présentation, les migrations ayant été, de tout temps, au cœur des relations humaines.
