Ancienne avocate à la Cour d’Alger de 1966 à 1977, ancienne directrice du Programme de l’UNESCO pour la promotion de la condition des femmes en Méditerranée, journaliste, écrivaine et militante féministe de premier plan, elle a participé aux forums civils Euromed, chargée des rencontres de femmes et du dialogue des cultures, vice-présidente du Forum international des Femmes de la Méditerranée en 2001, membre du comité d’organisation du 10ème Congrès mondial des études féministes sur les migrations en 2005, directrice exécutive du collectif Maghreb Égalité en 2006, membre du Réseau Euro-Méditerranéen des Droits de l’Homme (REMDH) elle a été à l’initiative, avec sept autres femmes arabes, de « L’appel des femmes arabes pour la dignité et l’égalité » à l’occasion du 8 mars 2012.
Penser le féminisme aujourd’hui.
En toile de fond les conflits du Moyen-Orient et du Maghreb, leur traitement par l’Occident, les débats sur la question de l’Islam et certaines revendications de femmes se réclamant du « féminisme islamique » en Europe… la conférencière brossera le tableau du féminisme tel qu’il est aujourd’hui pensé et mis en action par les féministes du sud de la Méditerranée.
Deux évènements guideront la conférence : tout d’abord la révolution en Tunisie et la place que la question des femmes a jouée dans la démocratie tunisienne ; ensuite les événements à Cologne dans la nuit du 31 décembre 2015.
